Cannot open Outlook/Major Problems

I have had major problems using hotmail in Outlook. I reinstalled Outlook
since it was not working correctly and many people have tried to sync
Hotmail, so I decided to start out fresh.

However, ever since I reinstalled it I cannot even open it. The first error
message says, “The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook
must be online or connected to complete this action.†Then I click “OKâ€. The
second message then appears and is the “Microsoft Exchange Window†which asks
for a Microsoft Exchange Server and Mailbox. I do not know what to type in
there (and I have tried looking this up, but I cannot find anything) so I
press “CANCELâ€. Then Outlook closes and the last message pops up that says,
“Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The
set of folders cannot be opened. The file “_____†is not an offline folder
file.†I tried locating this file on the C drive following the path that is
given and I cannot find such a folder. I have done this numerous times,
restarted it and such and it hasn’t helped.

Please let me know what has happened to my Outlook, Outlook Express works
but I need to use Outlook for my work. I Have Windows XP, have downloaded the
connector and have Outlook 2007. Thanks.

Do you have an Exchange connection, or simply hotmail / pop/ imap mail
acounts?
Use the mail Applet in the Control Panel to correctly configure the type of
connection
PS Uninstall / Reinstall of Outlook rarely cures a configeration problem

I have a Hotmail/Pop/Imap mail that I set up following all the instructions
given online. I tried going in the control panel and setting it up from there
as well. I made sure everything is typed in correctly and even then, the
problem was still there and I cannot open Outlook. Am I supposed to type
something in the Microsoft Exchange Window?

Can you please help me solve this problem I have with Outlook. I need to use
your product for my work and since you guys do not provide other free help,
this is my only choice. Please let me know what you can do or tell me who
else can help me since this problem is unacceptable.
