Cannot Open "oft" file in Outlook 2007

I need to be able to open "oft" files without having to save the file
then go through the rigmarole of choosing new, open form then browsing
to where I saved it.

Is there anyway of opening an existing oft file without go through
this procedure.

At the moment I get an error saying that Outlook has blocked access to
this File Template and I must open it by using the above method.

I have tried the Level1Remove Reg fix for allowing attachments, that
did not work.

Thanking you kindly in advance for any suggestions.

oft-files aren't blocked attachment. Make sure you haven't added it to a
Level1Add registry key.

That's the correct method for an .oft file that represents a saved custom form. Opening such a form by opening the saved file directly is no longer supported.

This is a real pain as I access these forms for new users and am
dealing with them all the time.

Thanks for your help.

Did Microsoft have a bad drink from the toilet?

What in the world would the users use forms for, if anytime you put data in
a form, you can't open it again?

The next thing would be to block windows from loading if a non microsoft
program has been installed, as it properbly could contain som malicious
code...

Thankyou for your concern, but at least for the few users out here, who
actually knows what they are doing, make an option for opening such files in
the future. And it would also be quite nice, if you didn't decide for us,
wich filetypes are safe to recieve in mails.

I have a really hard time figuring out how you got to be the worlds leading
software manufacturer...

What "you" are you addressing? This is a peer-to-peer forum where users help each other with Outlook issues. You're more likely to get assistance if you keep that in mind.

If you want to use a form that contains custom fields, publish it.

If an .oft file contains no custom fields -- as in a boilerplate message -- you should be able to open it just fine from the file system.

I'm having the same problems with .oft files. Why has this been changed?

It seems Outlook 2007 still opens the file, but the warning about the
blocking is very annoying and I'm sure there will be more people with these
problems when they decide to upgrade.

What specific "same problem" are you having? What "warning about blocking" are you referring to?
