Cannot open equation editor

I just formatted my PC and installed the office XP. However, I have problem
using the equation editor. It states that an error has occured and this
feature is no longer functioning properly and ask if I would like to repair
this problem. When I click yes, it starts to install some application but in
the end,it states that the application is not available to open this object
and make sure that the application is properly installed and it has not been
removed, deleted or renamed. Please advise! Really need help... Thank You!!
