I'm running Windows XP SP1 Home Edition. At start-up, Windows appears to
load normally; however, if I try to go to "Start/Control Panel, My Computer,
or Search", I get an error window: "Windows Explorer has encountered a
problem and needs to close....". At this point, I'm returned to the desktop,
the taskbar and all of the icons appear to refresh, and then the computer
becomes very sluggish. I updated and ran NAV2003, AdAware, and Spy-Bot. All
came up clean.
I was able to open the Control Panel in Safe Mode. The Event log showed 3
error events, pasted below. Errors #1 and #2 occurred during the normal
start-up, but without any visual indication of a problem. Error #3 occurred
when I tried to access the Control Panel in normal mode. Also in Safe Mode,
I ran the Error Checking utility. This Event log is also pasted below. I
don't know what to do next. I would appreciate any feedback.
