Cannot open additional windows in IE6.0

Additional windows open in MSN Explorer and Netscape - no problem

In IE6.0 when clicking on a web page address that opens an additional
window (usually on top of the previous one) IE6.0 jams -well sort of -
it opens a new window but nothing happens. The new window is not what
was called for -it seems to be the same as the original one. It also
appears that the "request" for the new window information is not sent or
requested by IE.

One of the two windows must be closed in order to continue.

I ran several Ad & Spyware programs which removed several reminants of
various IE custom toolbars. But the problem still persists.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Neil :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Open Multiple Windows In IE

To keep more than one browser window open at a time, click File in the main
menu, select New, then Window. To close a browser window, click the X in the
top right-hand corner or select Close from the File menu. You can also open
a new browser window with Ctrl+N.

Select Advanced tab and click the [restore defaults] button.
Later, select the Programs and click the [reset web settings] button.
Click OK.

And...

You may have a program running which is blocking pop-up windows-
something like Yahoo Companion, Google toolbar, a firewall, Earthlink (or
another) pop-up blocker, etc. You'll have to uninstall the program or turn
off the feature that's blocking new windows.

With some programs of this type, using Ctrl+click or Shift+click will allow
a new window.

Hope this helps
