Cannot login when Authorization Required

Hello: I tried disabling the XP sp2 firewall, and restarting the computer, no
help there. I tried entering the names of the websites in the exceptions, no
help...I am trying to log in to websites where I know the user and password
but the login screen does not appear, only the message Authorization
Required. Anybody know a way to work around this, please? I can login fine
to any website that does not have a required authorization. Do I have to
enter the precise program each blocked website is using to generate their
Required Authorization in the exceptions?? Thank you for any help with this
problem.

One thing to try is to make sure your Windows time is correct for
year/month/day/time/time zone/AM&PM as secure websites may not allow access
if the time is way off. Another thing to try is to clear all your temp files
and go to tools/internet options/content - clear ssl state.

Hi, Steve, thanks for writing. Yes, my time is perfectly set. And I do
automatically clear the cache a couple times a day because I have huge
websites and do a great deal of work online. I am asking the particular
website owners to delete the authorization requirement from their logins and
giving them examples of logins which allow MS xp sp2 to enter easily. I
think it is up to them to get with it because most websites allow me to enter
immediately with my user name and PW. Thanks a lot for writing, tho, I
appreciate your trying to help me. I think the particular website owners
have to re-design their logins to be hospitable to IE users.

OK. I though you may have a problem logging into any website that requires
logon/password and not specific websites. Possibly those website operators
that you are having a problem with can assist you as you are already trying.

I am so glad to finally find something on this topic...
I am having the same problem since I updated my windows i.e.
To confuse the matter the website changed its address and my name/password
information to log in. When I go to the new site I get the same
"Authorization Required" page immediately after hitting the "enter here"
button on the web page. Normally, on the old site a window would come up with
space to enter the name and password. On my system it was already filled in
and I just had to hit enter. This is the message page that comes up at the
new site...
"Authorization Required
This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document
requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or
your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required."
I've tried clearing the passwords through the "Tools - Internet Options" channel. (To get rid of my old password information that would be associated with the website.)
I've tried entering the website in the "allowed" settings. (Hoping that would get around possible security components in my software.)

Anyone have any ideas?
