cannot login as any user

I am on XP SP2 and I get an error message that states that it could not load
my profile possible reasons are security levels or corrupt profile. If I let
it timeout it states that it logged me on with a default profile. Then I get
a corrupted file window that states that system.LOG is corrupt and to run
chkdsk. If I reboot it automatically runs chkdsk but I have the same
problem. How can I get logged back in?

I can boot ok in safe mode with networking and researched sasser worm but I
am on SP2 which should include any patches.

recent changes are that I added an ATI 9250 card so my son can play
RollerCoaster Tycoon 3.

I would check a few things when in Safe Mode.
Check the log file for events which may indicate bad sectors on the disk. If
that is not the case then go ahead and clear all the events from the System
part of the logs. Back them up to something else. The backing option will
appear when you right click on the System part of the logs and click on
'Clear All Events'. Back it up as something and that should resize the log
file to 4K in size.

Try to log in normally and see if that fixed the issue.
