Cannot log on to win2k pro

When I am prompted to log on to win2k pro, I can enter the information, and
it starts to log on, then says shutting down. It takes me right back to the
log on screen. I've tried logging in as different users, and also logging in
as administrator to the local computer and not the domain. I tried
restarting in safe mode with networking, and the same result. I also tried
using the last known good configuration. Still, I cannot get past the log on
screen.
Please help.

I suspect that you have AdAware installed, and that you fell victim
to some legitimate clean-up action. You now need to restore userinit.exe.
The following link might help, even though the first two lines are in
Dutch (two lines = double Dutch!).
