Cannot join workstation to domain

Viktor

I cannot join 3 workstations (windows 2000) to the server
(windows 2000 server). I keep getting the message "the
network name cannot be found".However, I can ping the
server and the server can ping all the workstations. Just
cannot join them to the domain.
Thanks

Usually a dns issue. Make sure that those computers point only to a domain
controller running dns for the domain [usually all do] only before you try
to join it to the domain in their tcp/ip properties for preferred dns
server. Also disable any personal firewalls that they may be using. ---

after the domain name, type in ".local". This seems to work well on the
network I'm on.

Apparently you have a domain with .level in it to give it the fully qualified name.
That would not work if that is not the case. --- Steve
