Cannot Join Domain

When trying to join the domain I receive one of the two
following messages:

1. The Network path was not found.
2. THe network location cannot be reached.

I am assigned a local IP address from DHCP and can also
PING the server along with the Server being able to PING
my Laptop.

what do you get if using net view \\servername command from client?

Is this a Windows 2000 Domain or an NT domain? Are Wins and DNS configured
correctly? Can you access file shares on the DCs?
