cannot install XP

can someone pls tell me how to install XPP when the DVD player in the laptop
is broken. I guess I cannot plug in a usb DVD player to do an install. What
are my options?

if the bios supports booting from USB,
then you can install XP from a USB CDROM or DVD

look at your bios options and set "boot from USB"
as your first option
 
Get the DVD player or Recorder in the Laptop replaced or replace it
yourself. It isn't that hard to do. But since you didn't post any
information on the Laptop, it is hard to point you to the proper place.
