Cannot install with Gateway Roxio Go Back Installed

I am trying to upgrade a Gateway Essential 500 with XP
Home from 98SE. However the installation fails dues to the
detection of Roxio Go Back, bundled OEM with the machine.

I have reinstalled Go Back and uninstalled it both using
98 control panel -> add/remove software and also Norton
Cleansweep. Nothing works.

Does anyone know a way around this? Should I go for full
installation on XP?

It is a little unclear.
Is Go-Back gone?
It must be uninstalled completely as well as any application Upgrade
Advisor has issues with.

Are you also checking for compatibility?
Insert the Windows XP CD, after it autoloads, select the Compatibility
option.
Uninstall not just disable anything it has issues with whether it is
compatible with windows XP or not.
