Cannot Install TCP/IP

Lawrence

I found after a check with Spyware Nyker that I had over
900 either regestry or file entries for spyware on my pc.
I deleted them all. Well Spyware Nyker did it for me. Now
I cannot access the internet. I have done some research
and I was directed to remove and reinstall the TCP/IP
protocol. I have tried this but cannot proceed. I get the
error: "Could not add the requested component. The error
is: A non-recoverable error during a database lookup"

I would appreciate it if someone could kindly help me
solve my problem.

Thanks in advance
Lawrence

Richard,

Thanks for the advice. It did not work, so it is looking
more like a complete reinstall :(. Not happy about that
but if I cannot find a solution, then it is the way I will
have to go.

Sometimes, the removal of spyware corrupts the TCP/IP stack. See if this
utility will help:

A complete reinstall may not be necessary. You could try an in place upgrade install
of W2K which should preserve applications and data but require you first reinstall
your service pack and then all critical updates. That usually fixes a lot of
problems. A couple of other things to try first is to run System File Checker as in
sfc /sacnnow which can replace files from pre SP4 installs however and/or go into
Device Manager and uninstall the network adapter, reboot, and reinstall which may
happen automatically. Corruption from virus or worm is better fixed by a format and
reinstall after saving important data. --- Steve
