Cannot install System Mechanic 7 Professional

A

Alabama Yankee

I have a Compaq Presario SR1719NX, running Windows XP Service Pack 2.

I already had System Mechanic 6 Pro installed in my computer, and when
System Mechanic 7 Pro was offered, I paid Iolo the required fee, and
downloaded the installation file for the new version.
I uninstalled System Mechanic 6 Pro, and turned off my MacAfee Virus Scan
and McAfee Firewall as instructed.
When I attempt to install System Mechanic 7 Pro, it begins "Detecting
Internet Settings", then begins "Checking for updates". At that point, the
installation program completely locks up.
I have to use CTR+ALT+DELETE in order to shut it down.
Does anyone have any idea as to why this program is giving me the problem?
I have been in touch with Iolo Tech Support, but they have not been able to
help me so far.

Please give me any help that you can. I can be reached at
(e-mail address removed) .

Try this: perform a "clean boot", then try installing System Mechanic.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it made absolutely no difference. I have
contacted the publisher of the program and requested a refund of my money.
I was given instructions as to how to create a System Snapshot and forward
it to them, so they can decide if they have a solution or must refund my
money.
