cannot install office XP after clean installation of Windows XP

H

Herberto

hi,

i had a problem with the Blast virus, and i had to make a
fresh install of windows
XP.

I used all the same software i used before, but then, it
just is impossible to get
Office to install!

i choose what to install, where to install, and than it
comes out, that tipical windows
XP error message.

Anyway i checked the log files and this is how it finishes:

FILE: "Office XP Professional with FrontPage Setup
(0001).txt"
(...)
Successfully launched MsiExec....
19-08-2003 19:18:51 Chained install return code: 1603
Shutting down chained setup processing.
Set Verbose logging for subsequent setup.

***** Setup exits
19-08-2003 19:18:51
(return = 1603)

FILE: "Office XP Professional with FrontPage Setup(0001)
_Task(0001).txt"
(...)
=== Logging stopped: 19-08-2003 19:18:51 ===
MSI (c) (AC:EC): Note: 1: 1708
MSI (c) (AC:EC): Product: Microsoft Office XP Professional
with FrontPage -- Installation
operation failed.

MSI (c) (AC:EC): Grabbed execution mutex.
MSI (c) (AC:EC): Cleaning up uninstalled install packages,
if any exist
MSI (c) (AC:EC): MainEngineThread is returning 1603
=== Verbose logging stopped: 19-08-2003 19:18:51 ===

I was searching in the web and foud out that in the first
file, error 1603 means
the error must be searched in the second file. But the
error 1708, in the 2nd file,
i dont know what it means.

can someone PLEASE help me?!

Herberto.
