I installed Windows XP upgrade yesterday on my HP P-III
500 MHz computer. This computer was running Norton
Systemsworks 2003 standard edition and McAfee personal
firewall 8.0 with Windows 98 SE.
I run the computer through a router to share a DSL
connection with anoth computer on an MS Home Network.
After I ran the Windows XP Upgrade, basically all
preipherals were working fine ..printers, game pads etc.
Two Issues.Questions:
1. Systemworks was not functioning properly so I
uninstalled and tried to reinstall.
When I reinstall, it refuses to install Norton
Antivirus. No matter how many time I uninstall and
resinstall, NAV will not install.
I assume I am overlooking some obvious setting in XP that
is resisting the NAV software installation but I have
already burned 8 plus hous over two nights.
2. Even though I am running the Internet connection
through a LAN/DSL, the computer wants to connect to the
internet via dial up. I deleted all dialup setting from
network connections and now it goes to the LAN setting,
but I never had that problem with WIN 98SE. Is there
something I need to do so that XP understands that my
LAN/DSL connection is default for the internet?
Thanks in advance for any help on these.
