Cannot install FIFA 2004 on XP

Hi,

I'm having trouble installing FIFA 2004 onto my computer. Whenever I
insert the CD, it asks me for the CDKey, but after I enter it it says
"Electronic Arts has encountered a problem with Autorun......" or
something to that effect. As a result the installation aborts. When I
looked at the error report file, it seems there was a problem with the
the ntdll.dll file. I thought I was the only one with this problem,
but I later found out that many people on this group have had the same
problem (Especially people who have LOTR:ROTK game). I have tried
almost everything except for doing a repair install on XP. Does anyone
have any suggestions? I tried it on my roommates computer and it works
perfectly fine. I tried it on two other computers and it works fine
too. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me.

Thanks.

Hi Ty,

See if you can pick up any clues from the differences between the
two computers. Did you use an Administrators account on both?
Are they using the same type of file system (FAT 32 or NTFS)?...

Hi,

As far as I know, both are NTFS and were installed on Admin accounts.
I think I might try to install it on my old hard drive and see if it
works. I'm pretty sure it's a software issue, especially a registry
one. Do you know of any procedure to fix registry changes? I'm a
little suspicious of the registry cleaner software and Adaware
software that I have installed. COuld it accidentally have
changed/deleted an entry??If nothing works, I'll just do a repair
install.

Hi Ty,

All your ideas are sound. You might want to create a new
Administrators account and try to install the game using it
before trying those ideas though. It might save you some steps.

Best of luck to ya Ty! :)
