Cannot install any software on Win XP

Michelle

I installed win XP in my PC but i could not install any other software
in it. An error message will appear every time I try to setup any
software in the PC. What is this problem? and how can i resolve it?

The error should tell you what the problem is. If you don' t post the
error message in here, there is nothing we can do for you.
 
There are different error messages depending on the software i wanted
to install. Like, one error says, "Microsoft setup bootstrap has
encountered a problem and needs to close... " and another says, "Error:
access violation at 0x7C911430 (tried to read from 0x00000004), program
terminated..."

Sounds like a hardware problem (defect memory). Please run a complete
memory test. For this I recommend using memtest86 (www.memtest.org).

You can run memtest86 from floppy, usb key or CD-ROM. You need to
download the specific package. Easiest way is the bootable floppy.

Create it and boot from it, the test will start immediately. Leave it
running for at least one complete pass. If there are any counted errors,
you will have to replace some RAM module(s). Try to find out which one
is defect by testing each module on its own while the others are built out.
 
I ran memtest in my PC and i got this error:

What is this error all about? And how can I solve this?
