cannot hear headphone sound

C

Charles Herman

I am playing audio CD's under Win 2000 using Media Player 9. I can hear the
sound through my speakers. However when I plug in the headphones into the
sound card headpone output I hear nothing through the phones. My sound card
is Crsytal Sound Fusion.

I do get sound through the phones when I plug them into the speaker output
on the card. But why am I getting no sound through the phones output?

The headphone jack on the CD player itself is only live during analog
playback. In order to make this work, you'd need to switch WMP to use
Analog Playback instead of digital playback: you can change this in WMP's
Tools:Options:Devices settings for that drive (this is under
Tools:Options:CD Audio on older versions of WMP). Or plug your headphones
into the soundcard's output plug.

See http://www.nwlink.com/~zachd/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
