My computer boots up fine all the way until it's done with the Windows
XP logo with the blue bar running. After that's done, it'll have a
brief black screen then my computer will restart by itself and my
moniter will show "No Signal".

I have tried to reinstall a fresh copy of Windows XP Professional but
when it's done loading all the information to do a clean installation,
my comp reboots itself again and I get the "No Signal" message again on
my moniter.

What can I do to stop this from happening?

Thanks in advance,
Will

Can you supply a bit of history leading up to this problem? It looks
like a mobo issue to me, maybe your hd, and maybe something is not set
correctly in BIOS setup. What problems have occurred leading up to this?

Sorry for not replying soon enough.

So far, I have replaced my HD, MB, RAMS, PSU, but not my CPU. Before I
figured out it was my drivers problem. But now I have a new problem.
Since it is a new HD, i can't format it and install windows xp. I set
the comp to boot up with cdrom and the XP installation screen goes on
and start detecting all those drivers and things on board or something.
THen when it's about to start the format section or about when it's
going to show the agreement thing (place where you press F8 to agree),
my comp reboots itself and it turns into no signal again.

It's new mb so I'm not sure if it'll have bios problem. If it does,
please tell me what settings I should have.

I have an AMD Athlong 64 FX-53. Bios detected my Primary IDE Mater and
Secondary IDE Master.

Thanks in advance!

I did get a similar effect with a video card that XP didnt like.

Fixed the problem with a different video card.

The problem is I can't even install xp. And my new video card was the
same one i've been using for two years, i bought a new one cause my old
one burned and it's totally busted.

The thing is my comp just reboots itself just on THAT particular point
when I'm installing xp. It's before when xp asks if you want to install
and partition.

This really sucks, really need someone to come help me out =(

OK, that wasnt that clear from your original.

There's only one way to resolve a problem like that, systematically
change the hardware until the install doesnt do that anymore.
That isnt that hard with such a specific fault.

Try with the absolute minimum of hardware that can do an install,
just a video card, HD and optical drive. It may be something about the
extra hardware that is causing the install to fall flat on its face like that.

How did the old video card burn ?

That's all I have on my comp. A dvdrom, hd, video card, cpu. Nothing
else. The only thing i didn't test yet is my cpu, but i don't have an
extra one to test. I could go to the store and buy one to test, but i
was hoping it's not cpu and as far as I know they discontinued FX-53's
and FX-55 and 60's costs too much for me right now.

It burned because my screen shows only blocks and lines. Someone else
was using my comp and forgot to turn the fan on so it was too hot.

Yeah, it isnt that likely to be what's producing that effect.

Corse since you have changed most of the rest, its a possibility.

OK, that makes it unlikely that the same fault produced both problems.

Guess its possible that its the replacement video card
thats producing that result and thats because its faulty.

There's really only one way to resolve problems like this, keep changing
the hardware you havent changed until the problem goes away.

I think its more likely to be a faulty video card than a cpu fault.

Can you just borrow a video card to see if its that ?

i think i found out what the problem is now. My video card (PNY Verto
nvidia 6800 GS) is a 3.3v model but my MB (Asus A8V) only supports 1.5v
agp. Not sure but so far that's the only thing I can find out what's
wrong.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

I'd certainly try a video card that complys with the MB specs.
