cannot get things to leave the taskbar

When I close certain programs they do not leave the taskbar, I have task
manager and search both sitting there at the moment and they will not close,
how do I close them? They are actually closed but the reference to them is
still on my taskbar

rt click on Start Button>select Properties>Taskbar>Customize>click on
Behavior Column and choose
Always Hide for each one.

wrong one Rich, I mean the part of the taskbar between quick launch and
systray where programs are minimized
