cannot get the tasklist

Win XP Pro SP1

When I do ctrl-alt-del, I get a strange listing of processes, but no
menu options. If I hit <esc> it goes away. But I don't get the
tasklist or the other tabbed options that I should get.

I don't even know how to approach this.

On the inside of the border around the window, double click. This will give
you all the other options.
 
I'm amazed it was that simple. Here I thought it was something serious.
