Cannot get out of Microsoft Word in Safe Mode

I was having problems a few days ago and when asked if I wanted to start Word
in Safe Mode I clicked "Yes". Now I can't get out of Word Safe Mode nor can
I turn computer off. I get the message that I can't exit Safe Mode until I
go to Word and close a dialog box, but I am unable to get into Word - I just
stay in Safe Mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

right click the taskbar and select TASK MANAGER.
open the PROCESSES tab.
find the entry for word (WINWORD.EXE) and select END PROCESS
