Cannot get mouse or keyboard to work after restore

Restored a previous point in Windows XP Pro. Everything seemed to go ok; told
me it restored and then rebooted normally. However now I cannot get any
keyboard or mouse to work. Have tried three different wireless mice and
keyboards, including a Microsoft unit. Also tried a wired MS mouse. KB and
mouse are recogininzed and work prior to the Welcome screen but nothing
after that. Any help appreciated.

Can you boot to the Safe Mode? If so, undo the restoration and try
another Restore Point.

By any chance, did you restore to a point *before* mouse and keyboard
software was loaded.?

yes, all restore points were while KB & mouse worked., but not before input
devices were installed. Have been using same KB & mouse for 3 years. Other
KB & mics I tried were new
