Cannot get ip address through DHCP

PLEASE HELP:
I can not get an ip address through DHCP, I have tried everything.

I have a laptop with an onboard network card and a home user lan with 3
other users who are having no problems (I am an IT technician and setup the
lan myself). I have reinstalled windows XP and my network card. I have ran
updates and checked for viruses and spyware and checked and changed my
firewall and security settings. As a desperate last measure I even went
through and added all extra services of TCP/IP. I have even tried installing
another network card through my PCMCIA slot (both cable and wifi). They all
work if I statically IP them but not if I want to obtain automatically. DHCP
is enabled on my laptop and I have added a gateway service. I can not think
of any other possibilities that could be preventing this from working.....

Any ideas greatly appreciated....

Thank you

Assuming you have a NAT router and are trying to connect through it:
Your DHCP server/router has a limited scope and has assigned all available
addresses.
Your DHCP server/router has mac filtering enabled and your mac is not on
the allowed list.
What do you mean you added a gateway service?

Make sure that the DHCP Client service is running. Check the System
log in Event Viewer for relevant messages. Use this command to reset
TCP/IP, then reboot:

netsh winsock reset catalog
