cannot find server problem

Most recently (within the last two days) I have been
unable to connect to site's previously accessable. For
instance, Ebay...I can connect to its main page, but when
I go to "my ebay" or sign in page, I get the error.
Sometimes if I continuously hit refresh it will finally
come up, but not always. This is happening on all
different web sites. I am so disgusted with IE that I
tried to download Netscape and I get the same error when
it goes to download. I was finally able to download Net.
on my laptop after multiple refresh, but I am unable to
get that far with my desktop. It seemed to work a little
better. I use direcway satellite connection and there have
not been any problems with the connection that I can tell.
The weather is perfect for an 80% or better connectivety.
Any suggestions?

Rule out parasites.
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
