IE will not load a page. I can download email, and I can
use netscape to surf, so I know I have a connection.

This is similar to some spyware I had once, but I have
tried 3 different spyware scans and I cannot find anything.

Can someone please help.

This sounds very much like the problem I have: my connection through AOL works, Outlook 2000 loads e-mails normally and Mozilla Firefox browser works fine. Network diagnostics shows "Passed" and yet IE6/SP1 takes nearly 10min to load a page and all controls nearly freeze. I don't think it's parasites as I run a number of checkers (Spybot, etc) and they found nothing.

Can anybody suggest any solution? Could there be something wrong with Winsocks files and if 'Yes' - how can one correct it

Many thanks!

Alex,
Try a couple of basic steps first. Clear the cache from Internet Options>
General> Delete files and delete offline content. Set the TIF folder size
(settings) to about 50 MB.

Next try deleting the TIF folder. http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

For some programs to repair the Winsock connections:

Sorry for delayed reply due to being away. Don, I tried everything
you suggested and a lot more but I still cannot get IE6 to load
faster - it still takes about 5-10 min to load a page. Kind Rgds,

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
