Cannot find O/S

Hi everyone... I was really hoping that someone could
help me out here. I currently use Windows XP for Notebook
computers. However yesterday night, my PC locked up and
when I rebooted, it said that it could not find the
operating system. When I attempted to reformat by loading
the disk, it said "Error found when loading disk
partition." Does anyone know what the problem could be?
I'd greatly appreciate even being pointed in the right
direction. I'm a college student and many of my classes
work in conjunction with online activities. If you could
help, please, please do. Thank you so much!
 
Try booting to a win98 floppy boot disk ( get one at www.bootdisk.com), then
run format c:
See if it formats that way. If it will not format then the drive may have
died.
