cannot find hardware device code41

unable to use dvd/cd-rom drives... in device manager there is ! symbol and in
this option is "Windows successfully loaded the device for this hardware but
cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)." the troubleshooting is not much
help to me. could this problem be to do with cd burning programs that have
been installed?

i am an absolute beginner and need the very basics step by step!! please
somebody help me!!!

This may be a result of bad cable connection. plug data cable correctly
to Mainboard and CD device.
Also, If you have an old device, windows loads a predefined driver that
possibly is not suitable for your cd drive. trye to install
manufacturer supplied drivers. I had this type of problem with net
cards and modems.
