The problem started when I couldnt get into remote assistance because it
said, "Your current system settings dont allow..", i am on admistartor. so i
searched microsoft and found that I need to go to start>run>msedit.msc, but
now it cant find msedit.msc. I searched the windows, and system 32 folders
and its not there. Can somone tell me how to get msedit.msc, or how to get
remote assistance up.

There is no "msedit.msc" by default. If you're talking about
"gpedit.msc" (subject line), that snap-in is available under
WinXP Pro only - not available under WinXP Home.

Im sorry i meant gpedit.msc

Anyway, you won't find "gpedit.msc" on your WinXP Home system. BTW,
copying that file from a WinXP Pro system to WinXP Home doesn't work.

If you tell us what you want to do we can tell you how to do what gpedit does. Or even what is the right program.

I've seen instructions on a website about copying gpedit.msc and some .dll
files from an XP Pro to an XP Home to use it on XP Home. I have the former
so it's not relevant to me nor have I tried the instructions that I read. I
realise that some of the functionality of gpedit.msc won't work on XP Home.

Come to think of it, I don't know if it would contravene any of MS
regulations by copying the files over to use in this way.

First, note that this is illegal unless you have an unused license for
WinXP Pro. Second, I have many unused licenses and therefore, I can tell
you that this procedure doesn't make sense. In contrast to WinXP Pro,
the Management Console under WinXP Home (Start > Run: gpedit.msc) allows
for setting some minor Internet Explorer policies only when installing
those missing DLL files.

Thank you. I'm glad that I didn't reveal the site where I saw the
instructions or details of the process then.

the problem is that i cant get into remote assistance, it says, my current
systems settings do not allow this.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services
Is where they are stored in the registry.
