Cannot Enable Welcome Screen or Fast Changing of User Accounts

D

Dan

When I go into Control Panel/User Accounts and try to
enable the Welcome screen or fast switching, I get an
error box saying that a recently installed program is
preventing the enabling of the Welcome screen and Fast
Switching. It then gives a file name that should provide
clues to what program it is: CSGina.dll

Anybody got an ideas?

Oh yeah, I'm using Windows XP Home Edition.

Thanks, Dan

Hi Dan,

Not an Internet Explorer problem. This issue occurs if you've installed a networking software which has changed the GINA. It modifies the GinaDLL entry in registry and disables FUS and Welcome Screen. By default, MSGINA.DLL is used, if not the Welcome Screen may be disabled.

Use this utility to fix the Welcome screen.

If you want to reset it manually, see the following KB article:
The Default Windows Logon Interface May Not Appear After Installing Third-Party Program
