I am running Windows XP Home Edition and IE 6. When I
attempt to download the google toolbar, I get a blank
page with an image that looks like the icon when an image
does not load on a web page, and nothing happens. I
cannot figure out why I cannot do this. This also
happens when I try to download things from other sites,
such as the free version of Zone Alarm. I can download
these from another computer.

Any suggestions on what I can do is greatly appreciated.
I am stumped.

Thanks,
Steve

Is it only one particular file type you have the trouble with?

If it is only .exe files, then read on and see if this is relevant:
You may have an invalid plugin.
Netscape-Style Plug-ins Do Not Work After Upgrading Internet Explorer

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a
normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.exe

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been installed.
The key does not normally exist.
