Cannot Download from FTP Sites

Infact, I cannot access any FTP sites. I've had no trouble downloading from FTP before
I've tried enabling FTP in the Options/Advanced menu but with no success
all updates installed - also got Spybot installed...
Can anyone point the way to a solution?

Thanks for the reply Henri, I had already tried your fix
I since found out that when I turn off NIS, FTP works & so it is a Norton configuratrion problem
I'm going to delete & then recreate my Port 20/21 Rule to see if that solves the problem.
