IE6 and ftp

Hello, I am trying to access an ftp site using ie 6
(win xp sp1).
I cannot open the site (error message "ftp session was terminated").
I have tried to upgrade the explorer to service pack 1 but with no
success.
How can I do?
The flag "enable folder view for ftp sites" is enabled...
Thank you for your attention.
Bye.

Tools | Internet Options | Advanced
Scroll down to Use Passive FTP and change whether or not it is checked.

Unfortunately I had no success...
Passive Ftp, enabled or disabled, on my pc it doesn't change the final
result...
Even the connection to ftp.microsoft.com is denied...
Is there bug in ie6?
Thank you very much.
Bye.

It's not a bug in IE6. If it were I wouldn't be able to get in and I don't
have a problem.

Are you closing all IE windows and making your changes with
the Control Panel Internet Options tool? I think that this may be
one of several undocumented "requires restart" options.
E.g. if you are just using IE's Tools Options dialog to check,
then testing you would still be operating with IE in an unchecked
state until all intances of iexplore.exe are closed.

Another thing which you may need to do is use the File, Login As...
menu command after the first ftp connection attempt fails.
