Cannot Download Any File

Wayne

Hi All:

I'm using Explorer 6.1 service pack, with Windows 98.
Pages load fine. However, when I attempt to do any
downloading, i.e. from ZDNet or CNET, the only thing I get
is a failure icon. My computer has Zone Alarm and Spy
Blocker. I've tried shutting each (and both) down and
rebooting, but the same thing happens. I've reinstalled
Explorer, and it happens. The computer also has Norton
System Works, Antivirus, Utilities and Clean Sweep. I've
suspended them all and it happens. This is driving me
nuts. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Wayne

Any file?

If it is only .exe files, then read on and see if this is relevant:
You may have an invalid plugin.
Netscape-Style Plug-ins Do Not Work After Upgrading Internet Explorer
[Q303401]
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;303401

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a
normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.exe

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been installed.
The key does not normally exist.
