long delays in accessing web sites

I am using WINDOWS 98 S
I have 184MB of RA
When I use INTERNET EXPLORER to browse web-sites
I often find that there are long delays even thoug
I have DSL. The green lights in the bottom right o
the screen which light up when uploading o
downloading are not lit
It's as if the computer is napping

I have Zone Alarm and Norton Anti-virus and I hav
run Ad-aware and Spy-bot

Due to a new variant of CWS named "CWS.SmartKiller", many may have problems
accessing any spyware related sites if installed. A detection/removal tool

Then download/install/run Ad-Aware to detect/rid of any other
parasites/spyware that may be installed. It can be obtained free from:

After installing Ad-Aware, open it and click on the ref update to get the
latest up-to-date ref file, then run Ad-Aware and delete everything it
finds.

And/or download/install/run:
Spybot - Search & Destroy:

If you still have problems, download/run HijackThis from:

Do not remove anything with it until you get advice on what to remove,
HJThis will list many apps that are needed along with the bad ones. Read the

a forum that can provide assistance on removal of unwanted pests.

Internet Options | Connections [tab]
Check your settings carefully ........

You may need to clear your TIF as you may have a corrupt file there.

Close all instances of OE and IE
Control Panel | Internet Options | General tab
Click the "Delete Files" button, when prompted place a check in:
"Delete all offline content", click OK
Click the "Clear History" button, click OK.
Click the Settings button, adjust the TIF size to 50 mb, click OK
