Cannot disconnect

The dialup networking icon does not appear in my system tray (and it is not
hidden), so i cannot disconnect. The network connections thing doesn't let
me disconnect either. The only way i can disconnect is turn off the
computer. Can anyone help me???!!!

In Control Panel > Network Connections > right click the connection > select
properties > set it to show icon in the notification area? Is this enabled?
