Cannot detect my CD-ROM and CD-RW

Of late I am not able to see my CD-ROM and CD-RW in My Computer.

I check the Device Manager in System and the Drives are shown with an "X".
What I have done so far but still unable to resolved the problem are:
1. I have uninstall it from the device manager and reboot the PC
2. Upon startup, the OS detected the device but upon installing it, it still
have and error code 41 and the "X" appear again at the device.

Please assist.
