Cannot delete some faulty MPEG download files

Dan

Downloaded some files but they cannot be opened,
manipulated or deleted. Most delete commands not
responsive. When I drag folder to the recycle bin I get
the following: "Cannot delete UNSORT~1.MPG. Cannot find
the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct
path and filename."

Dan:

Go to start --> Run
and enter; cmd

At the command prompt enter; chkdsk /f
It most likely give you a message about need to perform this upon a reboot -- agree to
with - Y (for yes)
The reboot the PC.

Try to delete the folder again when you are back inWindows.

Dave,

Thanks for the thoughtful help. However,
the "chkdsk /f" command did not detect corrupted or lost
files and, therefore, it did not solve the file delete
issue. Think it is due to the unsort nature of the
undeletable files.

Thanks again for trying,

Dan

Hi Dan,

Use a command prompt to overwrite the file with say boot.ini and then in command
prompt go back and delete the boot.ini file in that directory.
You can do that with an active pagefile.sys and I suppose it would work to trick
the OS.
