Cannot delete from offline folder

I am using XP and Outlook 2002. For whatever reason, just
today, I am not able to delete any messages from the
offline folders or move messages between folders. I
receive the following message.

The messaging interface has returned an unknow error. If
the problem persists, restart Outlook.

I restarted many times, but no success. I have used
Windows Update to update the OS and all applications.

Any suggestions?

Are you getting any error messages when you synchronize?
Can you delete something using SHIFT + DEL ?
