Cannot delete folder that have contents

When trying to delete a folder within Windows Explorer it
gives me an error, "Access is denied: Source file in use".
What's happening is that when I try to delete a folder
that has folders in it, it won't let me delete the main
folder. I have to individually go into each folder and
delete each one manually until I work my way back to the
original folder. I checked for settings but can't find
anything anywhere that would control this. Almost seems
like some kind of security or some thing. HELP!

May not be the problem here but I have had this happen when I have
drilled into a child folder in the right hand pane and then tried to
delete it's parent from the left pane.

Collapse everything and click outside of the child folder to some
other folder then try to delete the original parent folder.

HTH and good luck.

Start | Run | cmd rd /s /q "c:\your main folder"

Ready for this...

Paperport had some ridiculous processing program opened that held
files/folders for no apparent reason. The program was even actually at idle.
Soon as this pathetic program was removed deleting folders/files went right
back to normal. Very odd.
