Cannot create contact groups (mailing lists)-cannot add contact to list

I have some problems with the mail program in Microsoft Mail: When I click
on the Contact icon on the toolbar above the mail it brings me to a list of
my contacts with the "Date Modified, Type (Contact file) and Size. When I
right click on that window there are only a few choices such as VIEW, Sort
By, Group by (which puts the names in alphabetical order, etc. The only
thing I can do at this point is click on a name that is already there and
change their information. I cannot add a contact to my list unless I have
an actual email that I've received from that person. Also, I cannot create
contact groups (mailing lists) from my contact list. I wanted to take some
of the names on my contact list and put them into groups. I've checked the
Help files and they say to open Windows Contacts and on the toolbar click
New Contact Group. The problem is "New Contact Group" does not appear on
the tool bar. Can someone tell me how to fix this-it seems that I'm not
staying within the mail program but I'm going to just folder with the list
of contacts.

With Contacts open, right-click in an open area of that screen, select
Customize This Folder, then change the template type to Contacts.
You should only have to do this once.

I think I've solved my own problem after reading some other posts about
problems with Windows Mail...I've downloaded Windows Live Mail and replaced
Windows Mail. I'm now able to create mailing lists with my contacts.
