Running windows xp.
Running a wireless through a Dell TrueMoblile 2300 Router

I click on the 'create a new connection' in the network
tasks in the network conenctions folder. Then I click on
the 'connect to network at my workplace' and both options
(dial-up connection and VPN connection) are both greyed
out. I need to connect to work through a dial-up
connection.

What can I do to enable these options again?

The first of these is common:

You Cannot Create a Network Connection After You Restore Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329441

and the fix is to re-apply SP1.
Also, worth checking out:

Dial-up Modem or PPPoE Option in New Connection Wizard Is Unavailable
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;320558

This is a follow-up to the response. When I tried to re-
install SP1, it still did not enable the dimmed options.
I tried everything else relating to it in those two
articles, but to no avail. Is there anything else I can
do?

Open a command prompt, "type sc queryex rasman" and post the results.

SERVICE_NAME: rasman

TYPE: 20 WIN32_SHARE_PROCESS
STATE: 1 STOPPED
<NOT_STOPPABLE,NOT_PAUSABLE,IGNORES_SHUTDOWN>
WIN32_EXIT_CODE: 1068 <0x42c>
SERVICE_EXIT_CODE: 0 <0x0>

When I went to see if the Telephony service is running,
the folder wasnt there. I think my brother was following
this from the knowledge database

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-
US;320558

I dont believe he exported the keys as well. System
restore doesn't show any points to roll back to. I'm
guessing he re-installed windows xp pro through the
upgrade on the CD and not the complete reinstallation.

Is your Telephony service running? It needs to be for rasman to work.

This article doesn't discuss the Telephony service. Run "services.msc" and
have a look at the Telephony service status.
