Cannot connect to shared database

I installed Outlook 2007 w/ BCM onto a workstation that we use as a "server"
(although it's just a PC on our peer-to-peer network). I then upgraded to
Office Professional 2007 on my workstation.

Yesterday, I created a new database on the 'server' and shared it with my
workstation. Everything went fine and I was able to connect to the database
from my PC. However, today is a different story and I cannot connect to the
database at all. I have restarted both computers and tried everything I can
think of. I un-shared the db and then re-shared it with myself again, but no
luck. I type in the computer name and it just says it cannot connect to the
computer. Both computers are on the network - in fact, I use another
database-driven program daily that is the same kind of setup - the main
program and data is on the 'server' and I access that data from a local
version of the program. That is working just fine, so I know we're both on
the network and my PC can access the 'server'.

No one messes with these machines except me (they are both in my office) -
and we do not have a network admin since we are such a small company. I do
all of that stuff, so I know no one has made any changes. The only change I
noticed is that my computer had some sort of microsoft upgrade that was
automatically installed overnight - but I can't imagine why that would cause
this problem (?).

Any suggestions? I intend to put everyone in the office on BCM, but it
doesn't look like that's gonna happen unless I can actually connect to the
database.

Thanks.

What leads you to believe this is in any way connected with Outlook?
