Hi,

I do have 2 PC's and 1 External HD(conceptronic CHD3LAN) connected on a
network (linksys). All 3 devices has an IP adres of 192.168.1.X and DGW are
for all the same. (given by DHCP from the Linksys).
I created a folder on the external HD.
From PC1 I can connect by \\192.168.1.101\XXX and also able map a network
drive. this is OK.
From PC2 , I can ping to 192.168.1.101 and connect to the web admin
interface of the external HD, but i cannot connect to \\192.168.1.101\XXX or
map a networkdrive. (neighter with net use).
Both PC's appear to be configured the same , appart that PC1 is XP pro and
PC2 is XP media

What can I do to solve this issue?

After using Net Use nothing happens, it look like tht the command gets stuck.
As well when trying to map a drive in explorer, it remains in the state
connecting at least 10 min. (then i termniated the process manualy)

I would double check the permission on both sharing and Security tabs. This post may help too.

Solved: Can't access one hard ...a simple name for the sharing hard drive, "share this folder" is checked >> > i give full permission for "everybody" >> > In security tab, full permissions ...
