"Cannot connect to server" when sending, but receive emails OK

I set up Outlook earlier this afternoon, and test emails
came and went just fine. Then later without changing any
settings (still in original session of Outlook) I lost the
ability to send emails. Could still receive. The errors I
was getting were first that the server connection had been
dropped unexpectedly, so I rebooted. Now it's "cannot
connect to server". I use a dialup connection, and
everything is installed on one machine. I can
send/receive just fine with my dialup connection, and I
can receive just fine in Outlook. But I can't send. Any
ideas?

What version of Outlook do you have? Are you still experiencing these
problems? From the sound of it, this could have been your mail provider
having some problems with their mail server - first it was dropping
connections, then they took it off the Internet in order to address the
problems. If you're still experiencing the problems, though, the problems
may be on your end and we'll have to figure them out.
