What settings need to be changed to get the software to
connect to the internet. The software continually says it
unable to connect, even though other software can
connect. This writing proves that a current connection
exists.

Do you have a software firewall? Perhaps as part of an antivirus suite
product?

Also, ensure that your web browser (Internet Explorer) is
on line. Open IE, click File and ensure that Work Off line
is not checked.

Today I have experienced the same problem with one of my computers, however
at the same time Internet Explorer reported problems with opening pages. I
have changed the primary DNS in TCP/IP properties on that computer and this
solved the problem - MSAS could update itself.
So my suggestion for you is to try a different DNS server.

Bill Sanderson:

Thank you very much. I will look to a problem caused by
ZoneAlarms. It is strange though, that none of the other
8 antivirus programs I use have any problem.

Plun has posted in another group--perhaps networking, that three separate
connections appear to be active during an update. Let us know what steps
you need to take for this to work, if you can.
