CANNOT CONNECT INTERNET EXPLORER TO WINDOWS UPDATE SITE

Does anyone have a clue why my Internet Explorer cannot connect to the
Windows Update page. I have XP operating system. It was able to connect,
then suddenly it stopped working. Now everytime I try to connect to Windows
Update IE 6 locks up. Anyone have any suggestions how I'd fix this?
