Hey all,

I'm trying to upgrade one of our member servers to act as
a BDC by running dcpromo but it says it cannot contact the
domain controller.

This is confusing as I only connected this new machine
onto the domain 5 minutes before hand.

The DC is servicing user logon request to the domain and
is available because if I add a new user or change a
password it is recognised across the network.

I have also loaded the admin pack onto my desktop machine
but it gives the same message about domain controller
being unavailable, when trying the dns and/or active
directory snapins.

Is there a simple reason for this occuring or is it going
to be a bit more messy.

YEs the DC is running DNS and was created as an active
directory integrated zone.

All folders are there except the _udp folder but I also
have the .(Root) zone in there as well. Should I remove
this?

Cheers

Brad
