I'm several steps down the road of trying to recover from a corrupted OL2003
Personal Folder which occurred when I copied an older version pst file from
an old computer.

I successfully followed the steps suggested by Brian Tillman to create a new
data file and set it as the default for mail to be delivered to, and have
copied all email, contacts and calendar items into the new data file.

However, when I try to right click/Close the corrupted Personal Folders, I
get an error dialogue box, "The operation failed. An object could not be
found."

I checked Control Panel/Mail and it shows ... (1) Data File shows only the
new file. (2) Email Accounts shows both the new data file and the corrupted
Personal Folders in the drop down box for "Deliver new mail to" (The new data
file is the selcted option.) (3) Profiles shows "Outlook" as the one and only
profile.

How can I delete the Personal Folder file?

since you've made the new PST file DEFAULT, you should be able to "remove"
the other one in the same place...? then try to close and reopen?

i'm just guessing, but i've been using more than one with 2007, and that's
an option available to me. as long as it's not default, Outlook will let me
choose "Remove".

You'll have to create a new mail profile, pointing it at your new PST and
adding in your account(s) again or you might try this:

Thanks again Brian. Removing the ghost was beyond my skill level, but
creating a new profile has completely solved the problems - so far ;-)
